Syrphe
The syrphes or syrphides are a family of flies of the sub-order of Brachycera.
The family subdivides itself in 3 subfamilies which include/understand approximately 200 kinds
and more than 5000 described species.
These flies often imitate the forms and the bright colors of some
species of hyménoptères.
One often meets them in summer on the flowers, mainly lesombellifères,
seeking the nectar of which they are nourished and thus contributing to their pollination.
The larvae nourish waste, bulbs of flowers, plant louses
or of larvae of other insects according to the species.
The syrphe is an natural ally of the man in his eternal fight for the subsistence:
its larva nourishes hundreds of plant louses, which devour our harvests.
One plants, in edge of the fields, Phacelia sp to nourish the syrphes,
whose larvae devour the plant louses, the French marigold attracts this kind of insect too.
